10 PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT: My professional accomplishment could be viewed in four different areas: Sawmilling and General Environment: My research in sawmilling highlighted the environmental effects of machines and sawmilling effluents. The research also identified the wastes accruing to the various forest reserves where research was carried out. A 33.7% recovery value was established on the average of all forest reserves. Furthermore, forest/sawmilling wastes will be of a less negative effect if they are utilized for mulching, breaking down high bulk density as well as utilizing them to create other products. This is also part of my research focus.

(ii) Forestation for a healthy forest conversion: I researched extensively on deforestation and its attendant effects on utilizable portion of the forest. Dye types extracted from some eight (8) different tree types is an eye opener to the danger of deforestation. Professionally, the dye colours showed a wide margin between the known and established colours and more scientific and aesthetically oriented ones like, Peach colour from Pteleosis habeensis, Pine colour from Khaya senegalensis and Ivory colour from P. habeensis + Cola nitida trees. A peep into the insiduous lethal implications on human and animal health of urban gardening and open crown trees was also made. It was concluded that heavy metal concentration in soil and invariably into the vegetable/trees tissue and the population of microorganisms are inversely related. My latest research delved into the effect of Radon that emanates from charcoal production using the dry log of Vitelleria paradoxa tree. The innovative result showed that during the production of 13 charcoal, more radon is emitted to both the air and soil as well as water bodies when compared to the amount of radon emitted at the point of burn. The radon which is a radioactive element is lethal to human when taken in large quantity.

(iii) Biodiversity conservation and management: Research in this area gave an exposé on Factors limiting regeneration such as allelopathy, dormancy and other environmental conditions. Researches in this area identified the scientific way of managing the shelterbelt so that on farm trees are allowed to thrive rather than the usual slash and burn practices. This is also great for environmental health of the forest especially where multiple land use system is involved.

(iv) As an Alumnus of the prestigious Teaching Agency for Conflict Analysis and Peace Building, the needed knowledge for conflict resolution was acquired through the training. As widely known, Natural Resources sometimes are without borders; conflicts therefore are inevitable among practitioners and professionals. This knowledge equipped me immeasurably to tackle conflicts arising from boundless Natural Resources. (v) As a Member, Global for Peace and Conflict Management. I am the Editor in Chief, GLOBAL PEACE COMMUNITY JOURNAL.
